We are seeking a dynamic individual to grow sales and take Sardine Bar to the next level this summer in the brand new role of ‘Bar Captain’.

Reporting to the Venue Manager, this is an opportunity for a growing hospitality professional who wants to take their career to the next level with an opportunity for progression to management with Good Group Hospitality which has restaurants and bars in Auckland, Queenstown, Sydney and Melbourne.

We are looking for an individual who can elevate our award-winning bar into a vibrant, yet sophisticated party bar alongside our Resident DJs on Friday evenings as well as create loyal patronage weeknights from the local businesses people who work in Newmarket and surrounding suburbs.   

The person appointed to this role must know how to bring a party to together through music, ambiance, and your character and will ultimately be the face of the business. You will be tasked to achieve repeat business throughout the week as well as promoting selling the venue as the ultimate place for work functions and birthday parties.

This bar is a finalist at the 2023 Newmarket Business Awards for ‘Best Night Time Venue’ and we intend to grow the business from here.

• Should be sales driven while maintaining high attention towards customer service
• Build a customer base of returning guests, locals, and corporate businesses
• High attention to detail and commitment to consistency and quality
• An understanding of ambience and ability to create a welcoming environment
• Is passionate about making amazing cocktails with solid experience to back this up
• Able to work effectively in large teams as well as performing independently
• Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced and busy establishment
• Duty Manager Certificate - preferred, but not essential
• Comprehensive training will be provided
• Must be well-presented, professional and have a positive attitude!
