JOB DESCRIPTION

$70k + Super & Bonuses 

Full Time Position – Tues to Sat

Immediate Start

 

Mission District is a fast casual Tex-Mex Burrito Bar in the heart of Ripponlea. We got a nice write up in Broadsheet that we're not allowed to link but you can google it for a bit more info ;p

We strongly believe in putting our employees first, providing a good work / life balance and a great environment to work in. We live by "work smarter, not harder" and are a very systems based workplace (somewhat ever evolving systems but systems all the same!). We're looking for someone passionate about making great but relatively simple food with fresh and premium produce, and who's keen to really develop their staff. Menu and recipe development will be done along side one of the owners :)

 

About the Role

We are looking for a Chef who is passionate about Mexican / Tex Mex cuisine. 

Key Duties:

  • Producing delicious food
  • overseeing the day to day operation of the kitchen
  • ordering and food cost control
  • rostering, training and helping other team members to develop their skills

 

About the Restaurant

 

Mission District launched in June slinging burritos out the back alley while we completed work on the front of house. We have built a loyal following of customers and recently welcomed our first dine in customers last month and have been consistently busy ever since. We have a max seating capacity of just under 50 people, but also do a fair amount of T/A.

REQUIREMENTS

About you

We welcome applicants who have:

  • Experience as a head chef or sous chef in a high volume venue (also open to CDP's looking to move up - we're happy to provide guidance and support in filling any gaps in knowledge)
  • Mexican / Tex Mex cuisine knowledge and experience preferred (or at least a passion for this style of food!)
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on nurturing your staff
  • A solid understanding of food/labour costs and rostering
  • Commitment and passion for consistently producing great food and having fun along the way
  • Full work rights in Australia
