JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The Wave Bar in New Brighton, Christchurch needs a duty manager to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, including covering for sickness and annual leave.
  • We seek someone who is honest and reliable and who can work sole charge within a small, supportive team. A sense of humour is essential.
  • You will need to love working with people and be customer focused.
  • You will have a duty manager’s licence or be able to obtain one – that is you are at least 20 years old and have passed or want to sit the LCQ. This can be done on-line or as a one day course plus an assignment.
  • Gaming machine experience is also desirable (or being able to learn quickly)
  • But don’t be put off if you have a great rapport with people, a strong background in customer service and are a quick learner. The right person is more important than the right pieces of paper.

The Wave Bar is a small old-style neighbourhood bar in the Christchurch sea-side & working class suburb of New Brighton. The most popular order is a jug of Speights. We have pokies and a TAB pod. Our staff have great rapport with our customers, most of whom are regulars and locals. Because we are small the staff member on duty is often the only person working. So our staff have to be mature, flexible, adaptable and able to show initiative. A sense of humour is essential.
