There are few things as refreshing as a well-made cocktail on a hot summer’s day, expertly crafted with the finest ingredients to quench your thirst and awaken your taste buds. As luck would have it, Appleton Estate has the recipes for three such cocktails – the perfect antidote to these long hot summer days.
Jamaican Mule
60ml Appleton Estate Signature Blend
60ml Fever Tree Premium Ginger Beer
3/4 Lime Wedges
1 dash aromatic bitters
Build the first two ingredients over cubed ice in a high ball.
Squeeze lime wedges, drop in and stir.
Garnish with a dash of bitters.
Appleton Estate is not only the number one Premium Rum in New Zealand* but it is the finest rum from the Caribbean Island of Jamaica. Hailing from the extraordinarily beautiful Nassau Valley, the utmost care is taken to capture the spirit of the island in each and every bottle.
Every step of production happens on-site at Appleton Estate. From the 10 unique types of Sugar Cane grown in the rich red dirt, to the crystal blue spring water naturally filtered through ancient limestone rock. The yeast used in fermentation is harvested from the cane fields. Even the distillation and ageing process happens in the very heart of Jamaica on-site at Appleton Estate. We truly follow a genuine Cane to Cup process.
Jamaican Daiquiri
60ml Appleton Estate Signature Blend
22.5ml lime juice
15ml
Shake all ingredients vigorously over ice.
Double strain into a chilled coupe.
Garnish with a lime twist or wheel.
Another extraordinary thing about Appleton Estate is the ageing process. When you look at the age statement on a bottle of Scotch Whisky, you do so safe in the knowledge that the youngest aged Whisky in that bottle matches the statement, for example, a 10YO Scotch will have no Whisky younger than 10 Years Old inside in.
Appleton Estate follows this same standard. Every single drop of Rum inside a bottle of Appleton Estate is aged for the number of years shown on the bottle, as a MINIMUM! Moreover, because of a process referred to as Tropical Ageing, it’s estimated a bottle of Jamaican Rum can age 2-3 times quicker than a bottle of Scotch. This is down to the increased heat and humidity in this part of the world, allowing the wooden barrels to “breathe” at a faster rate. Because of this extra ageing, the flavour profile of Appleton Estate Rums is unparalleled in depth and complexity, making them the perfect companion for your cocktails.
Mai Tai
45ml Appleton Estate 8YO
15ml Grand Marnier
15ml lime juice
15ml orgeat (almond) syrup

Appleton Estate has a long and proud history of making extraordinary Jamaican Rum, a tradition as you now know pans every step of production, imbedding the very spirit and heart of Jamaica into these Rums. And so, we hope the next time you make one of these for a customer, a friend or for yourself, you take the time to Land on the Extraordinary with Appleton Estate.
